Bridgeport, NY Wind TurbineLocal Country Club To ‘Go Even Greener’ With Addition of Wind Turbine
BRIDGEPORT, NY - Ground has been broken and construction is underway on the installation of a 140 foot wind tower at Rogue’s Roost Golf & Country Club located at 1092 Rte. 31 in Bridgeport as part of an effort by the course to incorporate alternative energy into their business and reduce their electric bill.
The new wind tower is being installed by Alternative Power Solutions of NY, LLC. The tower will hold a Bergey Excel-S 10kW Turbine that will help reduce their electric bill by up to 45% - helping the country club to ‘Go Even Greener’.
With snow already flying in Central New York many outdoor contractors have put in for an early winter - but Alternative Power Solutions’ crew continues to work to get the tower erected before the ground freezes and sub-zero temperatures set in.
“The fourth quarter is crunch time for us as many of our projects need to get underway before the end of the year.” said Owen Pugh, owner of APS. “Rogue’s Roost wants to have their new turbine generating electricity and our team will do what it takes to get the project completed on time.” he continued.
According to Rogue’s Roost Golf & Country Club web site (rrgolf.homestead.com) there are other renovations happening on-site as well including the restructuring of sand traps and other course improvements.
The financial incentives for the project (which totaled approximately $65,000) included a NYSERDA grant of nearly $28,000 and a 30% federal tax credit.
